Most recently, on June 21, the State Duma in the third reading approved the so-called anti-piracy bill on the Internet, which caused a wave of the most controversial opinions. The law may enter into force on August 1.

Governments all over the world are trying, one way or another, to limit the illegal distribution of content on the global network. However, success has not yet been achieved almost anywhere. We offer to study the top ten ranking of countries in terms of the use of pirated contentannually submitted by the International Intellectual Property Alliance (IIPA).

10. Brazil

The Brazilian authorities have chosen their own path - here the existence of torrent trackers is completely legal. True, the government plans to introduce a small one-time fee (a little less than $ 2) for the possibility of using file-sharing networks.

In 2012, the Indian Supreme Court decided to block 104 websites for illegally distributing music. True, this did not particularly affect the development of piracy. Owners of file hosting services quite successfully and with enviable regularity “move”, changing domains and names.

5. Costa Rica

In this small country, the level of development of information technology is quite high for Central America. And at the same time - the highest level of pirated content in the region.

4. China

The inhabitants of the Middle Kingdom do not hesitate to download illegal software on the network - about 70% of the programs on the Chinese computers are pirated copies. Experts estimate the annual loss from copyright infringement at a minimum of $ 9 billion.

3. Chile

All kinds of networking technologies are experiencing a period of rapid development in Chile. Simultaneously with the underdeveloped legislation in the field of copyright protection, this fact creates favorable conditions for hundreds of large pirated sites.

2. Argentina

Despite the fact that the country periodically hosts demonstration trials of "pirates", many Argentine sites offer absolutely free any news from the world of cinema, music and software. It is noteworthy that, as in Indonesia, the country has the Argentine Pirate Party, designed to protect the highest level of intellectual property law.

1. Ukraine

Ukraine is absolute leader in the use of pirated content. According to experts, even in the government, up to 80% of the software used is illegal. Such neglect of copyright and intellectual property protection may result in economic sanctions being imposed on Ukraine. The country has already been excluded by the United States from the "General System of Preferences" - a program under which Ukrainian goods were imported duty-free in the United States annually in the amount of more than $ 70 million.
